The Resilience Project at Richard Gill School
At Richard Gill School, we have a strong focus on supporting student wellbeing and mental health. One of the ways we educate students about their feelings and emotions is through a program called The Resilience Project. Students complete weekly lessons created by ‘The Resilience Project’ team. See below for some of the many benefits of this program.
Whole-School Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
Early Intervention: Builds emotional literacy and coping strategies at a foundational stage.
Proactive Approach: Shifts the focus from reacting to mental health challenges to preventing them.
Stronger, More Connected Community
Small schools often feel like extended families; TRP deepens those connections by promoting empathy and shared emotional language.
Inclusivity and Belonging: TRP helps every student feel seen and supported, regardless of background or needs.
Improved Student Outcomes
Mindfulness and emotional regulation help children concentrate and engage more fully in learning.
Confidence and Resilience: Students develop tools to handle setbacks and challenges with greater self-assurance.
Lessons are centered around Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy (known as GEM for short).
