The Resilience Project at Richard Gill School

At Richard Gill School, we have a strong focus on supporting student wellbeing and mental health. One of the ways we educate students about their feelings and emotions is through a program called The Resilience Project. Students complete weekly lessons created by ‘The Resilience Project’ team. See below for some of the many benefits of this program.

Whole-School Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

  • Early Intervention: Builds emotional literacy and coping strategies at a foundational stage.

  • Proactive Approach: Shifts the focus from reacting to mental health challenges to preventing them.

Stronger, More Connected Community

  • Small schools often feel like extended families; TRP deepens those connections by promoting empathy and shared emotional language.

  • Inclusivity and Belonging: TRP helps every student feel seen and supported, regardless of background or needs.

Improved Student Outcomes

  • Mindfulness and emotional regulation help children concentrate and engage more fully in learning.

  • Confidence and Resilience: Students develop tools to handle setbacks and challenges with greater self-assurance.

Lessons are centered around Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy (known as GEM for short).
